Welcome to the new School of Marketing podcast. The place for smart, simple strategies that will amplify your business results.

Sharing practical tips, insider knowledge and actionable advice. Because marketing is something that every business owner can do.

Now let's get started.

Introducing Your host, Bianca McKenzie, mum lover of snow sports, camping, horse riding and in demand launch strategist and Facebook advertising knowledge bank.

Welcome to the new School of Marketing podcast. I'm Bianca McKenzie and this is the place where we break down marketing strategies that actually work without the overwhelm.

Before we dive in, I want to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land I live and work on, the Palawa people of Lutruita. I pay my respects to elders past and present and I acknowledge the deep connection they have to this land, culture and community.

All right, let's dive in and make marketing work for you.

If you've ever stared at a blanket cursor wondering what the hell to post, or you have a to do list full of ideas, unfinished plans, half built funnels, and you feel like marketing your business is just too much, this episode is for you.

Because today I want to help you stop spinning and start simplifying so that you can actually take focused action.

So we're going to talk about why marketing feels so overwhelming, what you actually need to focus on first, and how to clear the clutter so that you can move forward with confidence.

So let's cut through to chaos and get some momentum back.

Sounds good. Let's dive in.

Let's start with the obvious.

Marketing can feel like a lot.

You're constantly hearing, be on Instagram, you need email, have you tried TikTok? You really need a sales funnel. SEO, video, Pinterest, LinkedIn, all the things. And it's no wonder you feel stuck.

We are living in an age of too much information and not enough strategy.

You are actually consuming more than you're creating.

You're trying to do all the things and you're trying to do them all at once.

And here's the hard truth.

When everything feels important, nothing gets done.

You're trying to post, write, launch, sell and serve, all without clear structure.

So today I want to give you permission to simplify, to stop chasing everything, and to focus on what will actually move your business forward.

So let's get back to foundations, because if those are not solid, all the content in the world is not going to help you.

And I'm going to tell you what actually matters at the start.

I'm going to tell you honestly, one clear offer.

And so you need to think about what Are you selling? Is it clear?

Is it specific?

Can someone land on your site or on your socials and instantly know how you can help them?

And this is where most people get stuck.

They have too many offers, too vague, or they're constantly changing.

Get this right first and then you can build everything else around it. So you need one clear offer.

The next one is one clear message.

What are you known for?

How do you talk about the problem that you solve?

Are you saying it the same way consistently?

You don't need 20 different content pillars.

You need one strong message that connects with the right people.

And I think this is where a lot of people go wrong as well, because they get so bored of saying the same thing that they kind of just go, oh no, I need to come up with new stuff.

This new, this new that.

But no, you need one clear offer and then one clear message. You honestly need to say the same thing over and over and over, different words, same message.

And the next one is you need one simple pass to buy.

How do people actually become clients or customers?

So what is the journey from someone being a stranger to them being a follower, to them being a buyer?

It doesn't need to be like a 17 step funnel.

I know funnels are awesome and I love funnels, but it really doesn't need to be complicated.

You honestly just need a way to attract attention. So that could be socials, ads, referrals, whatever.

You need a way to build trust, which can be email, content, conversations.

And you need a way to convert, which would be your sales page or potentially your DMs or a calendar link to have a call with you.

Literally attract attention. Build trust, convert.

Those are the three steps and you need to figure out where you're going to put your attention in terms of attracting attention.

And that can be in multiple, like multiple spots. As long as you have one clear offer, one clear message.

And then you also need to figure out how you're going to build trust. Again, repeating that message.

And then you need to convert them.

Simple, strategic, repeatable.

So how do you actually get there?

I like to work with the three part focus formula and it's what I guide my clients through in our sessions.

So the first one is your offer Clarity.

Pick one offer to focus on, make sure it's compelling, it's clear and it is easy to communicate.

If your offer is like fuzzy or too broad or there's like, you know too many things to it, no strategy is actually going to fix that.

So get it really dialed in, make it really compelling, clear and easy to communicate.

And then everything else becomes easier.

The second one is audience awareness.

Get laser, like absolutely laser clear on who you're speaking to and what they need to hear. This is so, so important.

Don't speak to everyone.

Speak to the one type of person who needs what you sell.

Yes, there might be multiple. So you might need to come up with multiple kind of Personas, but you need to work out which one you are going to speak.

And you need to understand their pain points or their desires because not everyone has pain points in terms of what their offer is.

Understand their pain points or their desires. You need to understand their hesitations, like what would stop them from buying and what are their dreams.

Then you can build your message around that. It's so super important to know who you're actually talking to because otherwise you won't speak the same language you weren't actually speaking to the problem they have or the desire they have.

And then the third one is consistent action.

Choose one or two marketing activities that you can do consistently and let the rest go for now.

It's more important to get started on one or two things.

Don't worry about the rest of it.

Get really good at it on one or two platforms or, you know, activities could be email and socials.

Don't do all of the things.

Just let it go for now.

So maybe it's like email and Instagram.

Maybe it's a podcast and a weekly live.

Whatever it is, commit and focus.

Because consistency beats complexity every single time. You're going to get overwhelmed again if you try to do all of the things.

So just park it, don't worry about it. Right now, I'm giving you permission and focus on two activities, whether it's email and Instagram, podcast.

Just two things. Pick it.

Commit, focus, go all in.

Because when you get that clarity and that consistency happening, things will start to shift.

Now let me remind you of something.

If you're overwhelmed by marketing, it doesn't mean that you're bad at it. I really need you to understand this.

Just because you feel overwhelmed doesn't mean that you are bad at it. Because I hear so many people say I'm bad at marketing. I can't do marketing. Like, you know, marketing is not my thing.

No, you're overwhelmed and it's because you're trying too many things.

It means you've been trying to do too much without the actual strategy to support it.

What you need is not another tactic.

What you need is a clear, focused path based on where you are and where you want to go.

If you get that roadmap sorted, everything becomes so much easier having that clarity and this is exactly what I do in my Marketing Momentum sessions.

In those sessions we will review your current marketing.

We look at what is working and what is not, where the gaps are, where the opportunities are.

And then we map out your next 30 to 60 days of simple, focused marketing actions that are aligned with your goals.

No fluff, no overwhelm, just clarity and momentum.

If that sounds like what you need, DM me on Instagram, have a chat.

Let's see if I can help you.

And remember, marketing your business doesn't mean need to feel heavy.

You don't have to do it all.

You just have to do what works and keep doing it. And don't give up. Because I feel like so many people give up before they actually get there. Because yes, it can get boring to repeat the same thing over and over.

You think everyone's heard it, but they haven't. And I think that's where a lot of people quit. They quit before everyone has actually heard it.

Thank you so so much for tuning into this episode. I hope it was helpful.

I hope you get some valuable points from it. And as always, until next time, keep marketing your business every day.
